This talk focuses on the place of Jervis Langdon in the history of Elmira and the region.
Herbert A. Wisbey, Jr., Professor Emeritus of History at Elmira College, was Director of the Center for Mark Twain Studies from its inception in 1983 until his retirement in June of 1986. He has authored three book and numerous articles and reviews, as well as co-editing, with Robert Jerome, Mark Twain in Elmira. Since 1979, Dr. Wiseby has been the mainstay of the Mark Twain Society Bulletin, first as co-editor and then as editor. In addition to editing the Bulletin, Professor Wiseby served as Elmira College Archivist and the Center for Mark Twain Studies Curator.
